It's called 'writing yourself i...Hi Julia,<br /><br />It's called 'writing yourself in'. I have the same problem where at one stage I would axe the first three chapters and start from chapter four. I think a lot of new authors do the same thing which is why I now write a kind if summary first up (not a plot, I'm a pantser) where I can spill all the back story without putting it into my book. The I start with the 'incident' or the start of the conflict. It doesn't have to the first meet. In fact Single Title novels don't always start here but it does have to start with bang otherwis why would we read on...
